The Colca Canyon, which together with the Cotahuasi Canyon, is considered to be the world’s deepest is an enormous natural canyon located in southeastern Peru, 150 km. away from Arequipa city.
The combination of its practically intact nature and its culture that has grown in perfect harmony with its Andean environment make this area of Peru very attractive for travelers. The Colca Canyon displays a unique natural landscape: the gigantic eroded rocks are outlined by a permanently clear sky; the dramatic colors and forms of snow-capped mountains contrast the still steel blue waters of the lagoons.
The Colca Canyon and Valley is considered to be one of the best spots to observe the Andean Condor in its flight. There is also a great diversity of bird species and Andean camelids as the: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos.
